yeh so i still have that aversion to looking at the camera and tend to awkwardly attempt to fix my hair mid shot. :]
i've been ill, but got convinced/coerced into going out tonight...which i can't really complain about cos i did have fun miscellaneous banter with people i hadn't seen in a while.
these pictures are just to illustrate two of the loves of my life right now.
first: this grey jumper that belongs to my male housemate (who's wardrobe is becoming my go-to zone for the cosiest and softest winter knits i've ever worn plus the most extensive scarf collection known to man). i have been wearing it for the past three days straight over all my outfits. it is just TOO comfortable and soft...like a hug. and really slouchy...i enjoy slouchy things, as i'm sure is obvious by now.
second: a black waisted cummerbund style belt my nanny gave me during the aforementioned clearout of her closet. she gave my little sister and i an absolute heap of amazing vintage belts and this is one of my favourites. i'll try to take some more detailed pictures of it tomorrow, along with some of the others.

my housemate's worklife is beginning to intertwine with the business transactions of my father!! how weird is that?? it does essentially mean i never have to pay for indian food again though, so no complaints here. :]

tonight i got called "boatwreck"...which was pleasant. but then some complete stranger girl told me she thought i looked like karen o (i think it's the new hair that does this...) and that she really like karen o and hoped i did too. which was a nice thing to hear, i think. :]

only wednesday and already this morning i woke up feeling as if we have had a sufficiently mental week...a little dull and drama-less existence wouldn't go amiss for a while, you know?? so i've reverted to "boring" things in hope that life will be a little less hectic. luckily for me, i find boring things are kind of the best things. tidying my room, drawing wolf outlines for a teeshirt for michael, making mixtapes and drinking tea. lots of tea. i had forgotten just how much i adore tea. this week's favourite picks being chamomile and vanilla, echinea and raspberry and green tea(as always).

my nanny gave me the most beautiful bracelet on sunday. it is jade and gold; she bought it when she was traveling in hong kong a few years ago and it is so delicate and mesmerising. i'm in love with it.

i wear so much gold now. i think i want to get a gold nose ring to wear instead of the silver one i have.

where do people like us go??

i've been spending the day rooting through the bags upon bags of clothes i have had stored at my parent's house for well over a year now...trying to sort everything into some kind of vague order of ebay/charity/sister/keep. so far i'm two bags down (and afraid to actually count how many more to go) and i have rediscovered some gems already. my favourites so far being this scarf, a pair of bright red shoulder pads (that i'm thinking could look ace underneath a sheer white deep v-neck tee or the like) and a polkadot crop top that i bought in a spanish thrift store a few years ago and thought had fallen victim to my attic (which i seriously suspect eats my belongings).

apparently my brackets addiction still exists.

i have no sympathy...

...when you waste such time, you waste such time. i have no sympathy for you.






i've been helping my mum clear out her closet. it's probably the least i could do seeing as she didn't mind the sidecut incident. basically...i've been threatening to shave my head for a long time now. i told her i'd do it in stages so she could get used to it bit by bit. on sunday i asked her to help me do a sidecut. she hid the hair shears. so i took matters into my own hands (well, ella's very capable hands but you get my drift).

in the end she just did that thing where she tuts and rolls her eyes, then an hour later says "it is actually quite YOU*."

and now i have an exciting multi-coloured, fleecey, pocketed, jumper-dress thing that she hasn't worn in years but could well become my new festival/BBQ staple. the other jumper is one she just finished knitting for herself that i have yet to convince her to send my way...but i'm hoping it's only a matter of time.

sorry for the (even more) awful (than usual) photo quality but i'm working with my dad's camera, which clearly doesn't agree with me.

i think i'm doing bunny ears cos we realised i was in miffy colours. and i love miffy more than most things in life. today i learned that my alternativas professor is the nicest woman alive. and that my filosofia professor is not as evil as we originally thought. although my comunitario professor is moreso. as you can probably tell, all i can think about is finals. thus we amuse ourselves with primary colours parties out of class and ridiculously immature lists during. god i hope no-one who could find the picture below incriminating reads this blog.

4) someone unwanted always breaks yr last cigarette in two.
5) i am destined to never get more than two hours sleep before i have to pick people up from the airport.

ya te echo de menos!!

talking to people from home and missing graduations and not being around to help my little sister destress for her first "important" set of exams has me missing ireland a little. but at the same time, there is nowhere in the world i'd rather be right now than madrid. and i am so aware of how quickly the last few weeks are slipping by and how much i am going to miss this place. i have never felt so completely torn in my life before. either way...i wore this shirt out on wednesday night as an homage to home...

cat and fritzileine and i enjoyed a much needed girly night out including botellón at the fountain, tequila shots through straws and a lot of dancing. all the traditions, oop.

and...i saw my first gecko of summer!! happybat:] i also saw my first cockroach...but i'm dwelling on that less. all i need is for the crazy heat to subside just a LITTLE!!

today i got LOST!! like..."walking around for two hours in the blistering heat without the VAGUEST idea of where you are going" lost. i cannot believe i have been here for almost nine months now and still haven't discovered my way around the whole of the city!! on the plus side, i found THE most beautiful park ever and sat there to write a card to my little sister wishing her luck for her upcoming exams(not that she needs it, genius!!). on the minus side i wasn't wearing any sunblock...so might wake up burnt tomorrow?? oop:/

idk...it kind of annoys me that i only have like seven weeks left here and feel like i am only beginning to really find the places i want to go to etc.

anyway yeh, as i mentioned, it is hot here. too hot. so i've been living in stuff like this (although the two layers are becoming too much!! and soon i fear i will have to discard my tights!!). i love the shape of the firetrap dress and pretty much see myself living in similar stuff (albeit a bit longer) for summer. hee...apologies for my crazy hair also...but the more i study the more i fiddle with it so it just kind of explodes.

my parents are visiting this weekend!! tote 'cited!!

barcelona loves you!!

also proof that my mother finally caved and gave me this tan belt that she has had since she was my age and that i have always adored!!:] which is pretty much my entire reason for posting this entire outfit again. though i'll try to get a better picture of it during the week.

apologies for the slow and stop blogging of late...things have been pretty hectic. an illustration of this lies in the fact that i got back last wednesday and have yet to unpack my suitcase!!

i will upload some ireland photos and give detail on "that which i have been holding you in suspense over" ASAP!! and fill you in on life stories etc.

for now...a list of reasons why today was awesome:
-today was one euro pizza day!! (i know!!)
-tomorrow is FREE ICE CREAM DAY!! (ben and jerrys!!...i'm not really a big icecream fan but i do love ben and jerrys.)
-my friend cat and i booked flights to BARCELONA in may!!...for TWO EURO EACH!!

i'm so clever, oh but clever ain't wise...

zara dress, jonathan aston tights, babyshambles tee shirt (attacked with scissors), primark mens cardigan (stolen from gavin).

i've literally just had one of the best weeks ever!! from days spent reading and lying in the sun at the harbour, burritos and coffee dates with my dad, mountain walks and breakfasts/lunches with my mum, wee nights out dancing and watching a friend's band, nights in with my boos, a birthday cake and chill out time in the park and a pin-up themed fancy dress party...all in all, a ridiculous amount of fun!!

i'll put up a few photos as soon as i get the chance...but for now i'm going to make some hot chocolate and curl up in bed with a book...as this is my first chance to get an early(-ish) night since last wednesday!! also...i figured i'd post a quick outfit. i got the babysambles tee shirt two or three years ago at a gig but haven't worn it in ages...so i decided to cut it into a shape i might wear a bit more often. i had to put the little fabric star over the "u" to clam my mum down when i first got it, hee. :] the world may disagree, but i think pete doherty is amazing!!

playing dress up...

i have/had a birthday party with a "pin-ups" theme to go to on friday which i think i've decided on an outfit for. today my little sister and i were trying out various haor and make-up ideas which turned into a general fancy dress session and ended with us dancing around our living room to yeah yeah yeahs. :] the scarf on my head was a present my mum got me from a wee vintage shop in my hometown...i adore it and want to wear it constantly!! i love that my mum shares my scarf obsession. she also gave me a tan belt she used to wear when she was my age that i have had my eye on for years now!!

oh, and my camera is neeearly charged!! yay.

i wanna be a hippy and i wanna...

tonight some our friends who live in halls threw a "bienvenida la primavera" cocktail party with a hippy theme. which pretty much meant headbands and painting flowers on our cheeks. they had decorated their roof terrace with little tealight candles and cutout flowers and scattered cushions everywhere...it looked amazing as well as being very comfy!!

in other news...i leave for ireland this evening (i'm writing this at seven am because i just got home) and i still haven't packed properly!! and i can't find my backpack for hand luggage ANYWHERE!! augurs well...
