trapped in a basement...

this is what ensues if you go to the christmas market for a catch-up over strawberry beer and (too strong) cider, onward to tesco to purchase lemon birthday cake and other assorted birthday favors and then to the empty basement of magazine offices in order to surprise yr friend/the birthday boy at band practice. the last picture is of me in a discarded hallowe'en costume that we found in the basement from a "dead famous" party the magazine hosted in 2007. there is also a video of me smashing one of the cakes in his face, but i won't put it up as i don't think the interwebzz is ready for my horrible northern irish accent. :] especially at the moment as i have a throat infection and sound particularly croaky/husky/manly/sadly not sexy like other girls seem to sound in the same situation. swallowing is difficult. that will be all. :]

oh, also: it turns out this blog ALSO celebrated its birthday yesterday. how apt. so happy birthday blog...i am still not entirely sure of yr purpose. oh well. :]

new things.

ive been talking about "exciting impending events" for a ridiculously long time now. so in short...here are few new occurrences (one slightly unexpected) to keep everyone up to speed...


new house...with a bitchin' blue wall in the back yard...for which my mother has promised to give me one of her 12 foot tall sunflowers!!:] we're currently trying to get the place in order to whatever extent our highly impoverished selves can afford...so maybe i'll do a little post about the place once it feels ready.


new (dash kind of old if anyone picks up on previous posts he's featured in) boy shaped thing. he likes the dismemberment plan and my sidecut. he aiiite. :]



new project that i am contributing to. it's a belfast/northern ireland music blog-meets-zine type thing. i'm really excited for this cos it has loads of potential. it is still in the early stages but that just seems to make it more fun to be involved in. check it out if yr in any way musically inclined cos it covers a lot of stuff such as live reviews for touring bands etc etc etc.:

and fiiinally...i can reveal that there are new musical aspiration based things taking place as well. but no more about that until i have more to share. oop!!:]

last but not least...it is my little sister's seventeenth birthday on sunday. i can't believe she is seventeen...unreal!! but i also can't believe how little money i have at such a crucial time of the year. i have promised to buy her an N*E*R*D tee shirt when i am at pukkelpop in a few weekends time...but any suggestions as per nice (but ridiculously cheap, or preferably, FREE) small gifts i could give dash make for her on the day would be highly appreciated.

eventful...

we climbed a mountain...we celebrated my nanny's 80th birthday...we burnt a giant effigy of bill cosby in the name of his birthday. we got very very drunk.

museum piece...

over the easter holidays, my dad pretty much made my life by giving me this vintage men's movado museum watch as a belated twenty first birthday present...



he was annoyed that he got outbid on the pocketwatch mentioned in this post, and so got this instead. to be honest, i am so much happier with the movado!! i have been obsessed with the museum model for ages now and the fact that he found a vintage mens model make this the most perfect thing i have ever received!! i am srsly going to keep it foreverrr!!:] the below picture is my very poor attempt at capturing how it glows blue/green in certain light.

i'm so clever, oh but clever ain't wise...

zara dress, jonathan aston tights, babyshambles tee shirt (attacked with scissors), primark mens cardigan (stolen from gavin).

i've literally just had one of the best weeks ever!! from days spent reading and lying in the sun at the harbour, burritos and coffee dates with my dad, mountain walks and breakfasts/lunches with my mum, wee nights out dancing and watching a friend's band, nights in with my boos, a birthday cake and chill out time in the park and a pin-up themed fancy dress party...all in all, a ridiculous amount of fun!!

i'll put up a few photos as soon as i get the chance...but for now i'm going to make some hot chocolate and curl up in bed with a book...as this is my first chance to get an early(-ish) night since last wednesday!! also...i figured i'd post a quick outfit. i got the babysambles tee shirt two or three years ago at a gig but haven't worn it in ages...so i decided to cut it into a shape i might wear a bit more often. i had to put the little fabric star over the "u" to clam my mum down when i first got it, hee. :] the world may disagree, but i think pete doherty is amazing!!

sorry i have been kind of m.i.a* this week and will probably continue to be so but it's just been quite hectic trying to get all my uni work done at the same time as entertaining the scots and the proper craziness hasn't even kicked in yet!! tonight we are going out because cat wants to actually "be out somewhere" when she turns twenty. tomorrow is her actual birthday so we are going for an asian buffet (yum!!) then drinks at hers then out again. friday we are heading into madrid for a "proper birthday celebration" as her boyfriend is visiting. and then, not forgetting carnival of course, we have d disfraz party to attend on saturday night!! i know i said i would go out more this semester but this is getting crazy!!:] keeps me distracted though o i can't complain. with any luck i will get a few outfit/general musings posts up in between all the fun!!

also...please please please send all fancy dress ideas for saturday night this way...for the first time in my life i am at a complete loss as per what to dress up as!! and i'm quite skint, which doesn't help.

urgh...i have so much work to do but absolutely no concentration span today!! hope everyone had a lovely weekend and is excited about the week ahead. i am, as it will involve a friend's birthday, scottish visitors aaand carnival fancy dress fun!! i booked my flights home for easter tonight...ridiculously dear already!!:/ and i have an exciting prospect in the pipeline or visiting my best friend in lyon early may when there is an electro-esque festival thing on!! tres excited!!

on a sadder note, it appears the nike/liberty trainers will never be mine!!:[ i may have to just get to work on a diy pair, hee!!

yeh i don't have many photos as i kept forgetting my camera but it was so good to be home again for a while. i definitely feel more ready for this term now and a lot less homesick than i did after christmas when i was sick and feeling sorry for myself.

most annoying of all is probably the fact i didn't take any outfit posts...especially after my last post as i could have illustrated my point better. oh well!!

off to bed now as i have a whole day of classes tomorrow and have been out tonight as it was alexis' last night before he returns home to paris. not sure how i feel about that. again, oh well!!

bit of a blur*

the last couple of days have been a complete blur of essays and dressing up and wearing heels and dancing and drinking and birthdayness and tea parties and classes and adventures and christmas dinners//cenas de navidad and trains and flights and busses...generally, i don't think words can properly explain the craziness or fun of it all.  i'm not even sure that photographs can-but they're fun to look at.unicorn-ness!!boyness<3glaswegian.visitor from barcelona.bee eff effsbirthday loot :]GIANT DOOR!!compulsary clouds.the air host made me a sydney opera house serviette!! wow.

finally i am home for christmas!!



i've literally only been in the country for like eight hours but i've already had burritos with the boy and coffee with my dad and dinner with my family.  and tomorrow night will be lots of dancing with friends (plus free guestlist spots for my birthday:]).  aaand-my brotherrr<3 comes home on friday!!  i'm pretty ecstatic right now.click <3xx*speaking of which...no i did not manage to get tickets to the hyde park gig.  and doubt i will ever be able to afford to see them this year.  sad face.
