hectic ducks and ominous clouds

sometimes on a day off, there is absolutely nothing better than taking a roadtrip to yr hometown and enjoying stormy beach walks, long lunches and forest adventures with two of yr favourite city boys. :] i have never experienced two people be quite so enthused about waves and ducks before...it reminds me to be so grateful to have grown up in such a naturally beautiful area.

today was such an awesome and necessary break...even if it did end with a doctor's trip for yet more injections. :[ i was only meant to get one but ended up with two sore arms cos the nurse realised i'd missed one and "might as well get it whilst about." yay??

yeh so i still have that aversion to looking at the camera and tend to awkwardly attempt to fix my hair mid shot. :]
i've been ill, but got convinced/coerced into going out tonight...which i can't really complain about cos i did have fun miscellaneous banter with people i hadn't seen in a while.
these pictures are just to illustrate two of the loves of my life right now.
first: this grey jumper that belongs to my male housemate (who's wardrobe is becoming my go-to zone for the cosiest and softest winter knits i've ever worn plus the most extensive scarf collection known to man). i have been wearing it for the past three days straight over all my outfits. it is just TOO comfortable and soft...like a hug. and really slouchy...i enjoy slouchy things, as i'm sure is obvious by now.
second: a black waisted cummerbund style belt my nanny gave me during the aforementioned clearout of her closet. she gave my little sister and i an absolute heap of amazing vintage belts and this is one of my favourites. i'll try to take some more detailed pictures of it tomorrow, along with some of the others.

my housemate's worklife is beginning to intertwine with the business transactions of my father!! how weird is that?? it does essentially mean i never have to pay for indian food again though, so no complaints here. :]

tonight i got called "boatwreck"...which was pleasant. but then some complete stranger girl told me she thought i looked like karen o (i think it's the new hair that does this...) and that she really like karen o and hoped i did too. which was a nice thing to hear, i think. :]

this is pretty much the only song i am listening to this week (well, besides the black lips and jay z...but what's new there??). it is kind of my life. it kind of makes me want to cry whilst filling me with comforting warmth simultaneously.

we have internet in the house now...how novel!!:] so that plus the fact that classes recommence this week should mean a hasty return to regular posting.

not much has been going on...i have just been getting settled in the new house, working my balls off in firetrap and being ridiculously skint. le boy went back to england on friday (yes, i am very good at putting myself in long distance relationship situations:[). he is missed. but hallowe'en isn't too far away and i have a scary amount of work to keep me occupied in the meantime.

aaand...in true "ru in hair boredom shockerrr" mode, i am getting my hurrr did tomorrow morning. my friend needs models and i'm sick of having this bird's nest in my way so i'm giving her free reign. then...i'm thinking about dyeing it orange. thoughts??

new things.

ive been talking about "exciting impending events" for a ridiculously long time now. so in short...here are few new occurrences (one slightly unexpected) to keep everyone up to speed...


new house...with a bitchin' blue wall in the back yard...for which my mother has promised to give me one of her 12 foot tall sunflowers!!:] we're currently trying to get the place in order to whatever extent our highly impoverished selves can afford...so maybe i'll do a little post about the place once it feels ready.


new (dash kind of old if anyone picks up on previous posts he's featured in) boy shaped thing. he likes the dismemberment plan and my sidecut. he aiiite. :]



new project that i am contributing to. it's a belfast/northern ireland music blog-meets-zine type thing. i'm really excited for this cos it has loads of potential. it is still in the early stages but that just seems to make it more fun to be involved in. check it out if yr in any way musically inclined cos it covers a lot of stuff such as live reviews for touring bands etc etc etc.:

last but not least...it is my little sister's seventeenth birthday on sunday. i can't believe she is seventeen...unreal!! but i also can't believe how little money i have at such a crucial time of the year. i have promised to buy her an N*E*R*D tee shirt when i am at pukkelpop in a few weekends time...but any suggestions as per nice (but ridiculously cheap, or preferably, FREE) small gifts i could give dash make for her on the day would be highly appreciated.

aye, i am aye...

currently sitting in my parent's back garden (i felt ill and decided to go home for the weekend) talking to my brother on the phone (giving him NYC tips) and playing a music quiz with my mum and dad (highly competitive).

we are also very, very drunk. already.

six bottle of wine will teach me right for asking my dad to teach me about how to pick decent stuff.

anyyyway...i'm going to make some dinner and head back to kick (more) ass in the quiz. but i'll post properly tonight. my life is not normal sometimes.

(and i am VERY fond of brackets this evening, hell.)

-complaints about said party to university...most likely result being a fine. money i don't have.

clothes that have become my general unifrom of late with the occasional changing of oversized band tee shirt. i can't complain...it's helping with the changeable weather and comfortable.
my new bracelet which consists of a wooden bead necklace i was given at a little market in mallorca (for speaking spanish, how sweet??) and a tag i got for free at the tropen museum in amsterdam about three years ago. i think it matches my other religiously themed jewelry quite well.
an exceptionally last minute and girly outfit for an FM belfast gig. i almost didn't go. i almost missed the bus. i'm glad i chased it in the end.
an epic fail attempt at capturing literally THOUSANDS of birds flying over my house at dusk.
a make-up experiment that resulted from boredom when i was clearing out my room yesterday. i kind of like it. maybe a little too much.

just barely.


sorry i disappeared for a bit...i had even less internet in mallorca than i thought i would. i am now firmly back in ireland. it is beyond surreal. last night i went out with bally (well i had been back 23 hours, you know??) and i felt like a little alien girl, seriously.

i also have new glasses...after drunkenly leaving my old ones on the bus to the airport after a very messy last night in madrid. :/ i swear i am my opticians best customer. but clearly also his favourite...cos he gave me a heap of vintage frames for free...so i can keep some and sell some. IKR??

pictures and stories (of which there are many) will have to wait a little bit as i'm off to belfast today to sort out some house drama. i just need to move in and get settled so i can feel like i am really here...but our landlord is already being an asshole. shockerrr.

i also have some projects coming up i am beyond stoked about...so close i am ready to explode with excitement. vacaciones os quiero.

out of action

so as it turns out, all those jokes i make on a daily basis about my computer being on death's door have come back to haunt me. it crashed last week, as i was mid-essay and mid-trying to ring home to talk to my family the last chance i'd get in a month. according to my computer genius glaswegian friend, it is fixable. the downside is he means fixable once he brings it back to glasgow with him in july for parts. for now i'll try my best to update by scobing whoever's computer i can. [hmmm, this gyspy lifestyle may be getting out of hand...]

in other news...this week i am in lyon in france visiting my bally boo. we have been drinking cheap wine, smoking cheap cigarettes, eating amazing vegan/vegetarian picnics, lying by the river rhone, partying on boats and playing in kid's parks at six am. and we saw a zombie march...pretty much made my life.

i'm back to madrid [for the last time, howl] on wednesday and then i have one week and one exam before i head to mallorca.

i'm also pretty excited at the prospect of being given amazing black flag and liars tee shirts as presents just cos they don't fit my friend. i'll find pictures when i can.

1) i will always be running late...no matter what.
2) beer is beer...no matter how many nice things you add, most of the time it still tastes like piss.
3) girls are bitches...with or without the language barrier. nice girls always get hurt, mean girls always get head. hah.
4) someone unwanted always breaks yr last cigarette in two.
5) i am destined to never get more than two hours sleep before i have to pick people up from the airport.

i am currently fighting my way through an evil philosophy of law essay which i need to have finished by sunday in order to start all my other work. and i have essentially put myself under house arrest as i am without my flatkeys and all my flatmates have gone away for a festival this weekend without leaving me a set. :/ i may go stir crazy.

i have exciting things to blog and exciting things going on in life in general at the minute though. for tomorrow.

we decided not to go ot in madrid tonight after all...everyone was just too tired. i must admit i'm kind of thankful for the break and cat's suggestion of a pizza and dvd night instead!! i feel like i have a thousand things to think about this week. one of which is what to do next year. i am meant to go back to ireland to finish the last year of my law degree...but i am considering taking a year out and either working here in spain or travelling or something. this probably sounds like such a waster thought, but there is reasoning in favour of it. as well as plenty against. :/

another...is what to wear to the costume party tomorrow!! HELP!! :]

quick little updates...

random fashion shoot i did for the student newspaper last year...i felt this blog needed a picture??

hopefully i shall post a proper entry later tonight but for now, i would like to share some facts that are making me very happy:]

-my friend preston and i are going to see "the jigga man" in september in manchester (meaning i can also visit my sister and her family)...JAY ZED!! i know.

-somehow, against all odds, i managed to get 80% in my nacionalidad y extranjería course...which is "notable" (kind of like a commendation)...and translates as a first!!

-boyfriend dearest is hopefully coming to visit me for a week(!) sometime in the next three to four weeks.

-speaking of whom...we went on a little shopping adventure when i was home last week and he would not let me pay for a single thing. ridiculously generous. i shall blog the results at a later stage.

-all my classes this semester seem really interesting so far.

-i am definitely feeling less homesick now than that strange post-christmas phase i went through. :]


i don't really feel like going out for the second night in a row. especially when we are going out again tomorrow. i have no idea what to wear. and i dislike all this saying goodbye to people forever malarkey. but at least i can get drunk here for under €1.50, hee.

most annoying of all is probably the fact i didn't take any outfit posts...especially after my last post as i could have illustrated my point better. oh well!!

off to bed now as i have a whole day of classes tomorrow and have been out tonight as it was alexis' last night before he returns home to paris. not sure how i feel about that. again, oh well!!
